Macho Man

Ever notice that Matt Drudge periodically will effectively out himself, by way of his choice to harp on certain stories? It's kind of funny to observe..

Drudge got particularly miffed when Chris Rock seemed to diss the Oscars just prior to acting as their host in 2005. "I never watch the Oscars," Rock had said in an interview during the lead-up to the Academy Awards that year. "What straight, black man sits there and watches the Oscars? Show me one."

Drudge reacted to Rock's comments like a rodeo fan to a flag-burning. ONLY GAYS WATCH OSCARS, he misquoted on his site. He was somehow incensed that someone could have such disrespect for an American institution -- as if some fat lady had just mangled the National Anthem. It seemed he expected to incite mass outcry, making it his top story for a week. It was funny to see that the average American couldn't give a crap.. their indifference providing the contrast to reinforce Chris Rock's stereotype, and paint Matt with a rainbow.

Lately, it's been all about DREAMGIRLS. A blockbuster for sure, but Drudge has had multiple stories per day on this one movie for nearly a month. Does the average person really care that much about this film?? The way he's carrying on, this may as well be the gay Phantom Menace.

Couple all this with his weekly radio show, which makes use of an array of telling tracks for its bumper music: showtunes, Pet Shop Boys, horrible 'derf-derf' trance-techno and pagan drama-queen banshee anthems. When expousing upon his musical interests, ol' butt-chin reveals he may be the funnest Log Cabin Republican ever:"I am a conservative. I'm very much pro-life. If you go down the list of what makes up a conservative, I'm there almost all the way. So just because I like Junior Vasquez doesn't mean I can't believe this country was built on life, not on a death culture."
