I just hooked my video projector up to the HD output of my cable box..

And the first thing to pop up in HD? ABC's "The View"..

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My life flashed before my eyes in 1080i..

But all near-death experiences aside, I found a great way to do HDTV on the cheap. I happened to have a video projector that already did SVGA computer resolution and found out, after some reading, that I could convert the YUV output of the HD cable box using a $25 cable.

If you already have such a projector.. sweet! But I'm thinking that even if you were to hunt for one on eBay, you'd probably get more bang for the buck compared to what new sets still cost.

Owning a cable box. Apart from the emergency broadcast system which will be all that is on TV on Z-day I like to avoid little, "treats" like that by avoiding random TV all together. Although, I do have the vulnerability of whatever they decide to stick up on the ad box of the Xboxlive interface... jessica simpson video.. *shudder* I like my moving pit'chures in a controlled environment!
